Wow! hope everyone is having as much fun as i did in Bailey's Court!

Hello from New Zealand !
I've just been looking at the website - as impressive as ever! Loved the 'Mr Tickle' animations, reading the messages and catching up with what you have all been doing! It's great to see 'old' Bailey's Courts names on the message board as well... Joe... Mr Higginson NEVER shouted because you ALWAYS did your homework :-)
Keep up the good work Bailey's Court and can one of you teach Mr Higginson and Mr Telfer to email.. I'm still waiting to hear from them!!!

Wow. Well now being 16 and in year 11, It has been absolutely ages since I was at Baileys! I have my GCSEs in June (fingers crossed) and am actually predicted all A's, B's and A*'s. Looking around the website it's clear that Bailey's has changed a lot since i was last there, 5 years ago ! I am still in touch with a few old friends and have made many more at Filton. Now, choosing what i want to take for A level, i cant help but think back to the days at Bailey's, mainly the year 6 leavers play ! Aladdin and the bath mat years ! Seriously insane! Me and a couple of friends were planning to come to the Christmas fair and just show our faces again, but we dont know when it is, so if you could let us know that would be fabulous. Anyways...hopefully we'll see you at the Christmas fair ! Becky Collins (now aged 16 ! can you believe it !)

Hi everyone,
Hows life back at Baileys Court? I left a fair while ago now, 2003, I was in the first year to go right the way through the school, and I'm now in year 11 at KLB (a school in Gloucestershire) and playing quite a bit of Rugby (after discovering it in the tag rugby in year 6-thanks Mr Higginson!) and now most of my spare time is spent is spent playing or watching it!
I am also enjoying my GCSE year (well... as much as possible) but i don't think it will ever match up to Baileys!
I'd just like to thank everyone who taught me while I was at the school, it looks like quite a few of the teachers are still there, Mr Bowman, Mr Higginson, Miss Barnett, Miss Hazell, Mrs Davey etc.
Was thinking the other day about some of the best times at Bailey's, year 6 camp and the prom probably stick out as some of the most vivid, along with Alex Pearces' and I memorable performance in the pantomime at the end of year 6.
Anyway, good luck to all,

Jack
REPLY: Nice to hear from you Jack - and good luck with your rugby! There have been a few changes though - Mr Bowman has moved on now and so has Miss Hazel - but the rest are here. Call in and see us some time?

Hi!
This website is GREAT! I'm going to year 6 after the summer holidays. I'm a bit nervous but excited. I'm really excited about camp but scared of SATS. I'm going to be in class 10 with Mrs Downes (my favourite teacher!). I was in her class in year 2 when I first came to this school, then I was in her class in year 4 and now in year 6! Going up in two's! I like this school and all the teachers are great! I'll miss Mr Bowman and Mrs Ford. I wish them good luck. I really miss Miss Walls and she was my favourite teacher but because she left it is Mrs Downes!

Hi yr 5 don't even bother thinking about worrying about S.A.Ts because it's better than normal literacy and numeracy and, even if you dont get the score you would have hoped to get, at the end of the day it's just words on paper and these tests won't make that much of a difference to your life. Like the teachers say, there are more inportant tests in years to come and with camp as a treat you'll be glad you did them anyway. Got to go now so bye (FOR NOW)

Why do the same people persist in parking their cars right at the school gates? I live 20 minutes walk away, yet still manage to get to school, and if I do drive, I make sure that I park my car well away from Breaches Gate. It is becoming dangerous walking into school now especially when I have more than one child to supervise!
REPLY: Thank you for voicing your concerns - we too are both worried and irritated by inconsiderate parking by a minority of parents. We cannot take any direct action ourselves but we are in constant contact with the police about the issue.

Hello everyone at BCPS. I hope everyone is well and getting through this long term. Such fun reading all these messages from ex-pupils of mine! Tom, I certainly remember your sister calling me Mr Headlock - there were others who I'm sure called me far worse things!

It feels as if summer has returned to Switzerland and its the last week of November - the last two days the temperatures have been in the 20s in parts of Switzerland and I have got my shorts out again (oh yes!). Stefan (7) and Lorin (4) are desperate for snow so they can get on their skis but not a chance at the moment.

I still cycle to school - 4000 Km this year and it's a bit hillier than Horfield to Bradley Stoke but it keeps me fit(ish). I turned 50 this year so am feeling really ancient but trying my best to follow JM Barrie's advice - be an adult but never a grown up!

My role as Learning Support teacher (SEN) allows me to work with children from 6 years to 16 years old. I do a lot of Maths support and maths extension and love the variety. Took my soccer team to Geneva last week and surprised ourselves by winning gold medals. We went to Vienna the previous week and didn't do so well. It may all sound exotic but spending a weekend with 15 twelve year olds has its downsides too!!!

Deep in reports at the moment - what a fun part of the job that is.

I hope you are all well.

Big hugs all round

David Heslop
(ex-teacher)

REPLY: Great to hear from you David - I know your ex-pupils will love to read all about you on the website. You can see that It's all fun here - Pirate Week was wonderful with the school decorated and the children dressed up - You would have loved it!
Now, of course, Christmas is coming, it's the party season and thoughts turn to previous years. We're visiting Hullabaloos tonight which might bring back a few memories for you.

Let us know if you will be appearing in these parts any time soon - we'd love to see you.

Merry Christmas to you all

Tried opening using Word, powerpoint and excel with no luck. Can anyone help?

REPLY: Thanks for your message. It is a problem - I'm afraid there are so many versions of Publisher and many are not compatible with others. The newsletter is written using publisher and it is too big a job to convert it to word each time so for the time being you may not be able to access it online. I will try to find a way around this but it may take some time.

Hello people!! This is Jonathan Davey!! (The best!?). I used to go to Bailey's Court (in case you have forgotten) and now I go to the new school - Bradley Stoke! The worst part about leaving Bailey's Court was the thought I was never going to see my friends that were going to other schools! But this was not true! I sometimes see my old friends when I am walking to school!! They also come and call for me sometimes! So I hope when the New Year 7 people leave school they do not feel scared in anyway because there is nothing to worry about! The experience is so much fun and it does not matter which school you go to! All the people that are going to Bradley Stoke, you might see me sometimes!
REPLY: Thank you so much for that message Jonathon - it is great that, even though you have a busy life going on there, you can still find time to think about how the current Y6 must be feeling. Everyone worries a bit about moving schools and a few words from someone who's been through it can really help. A lot of us are coming up to the school soon so we may see you then. Mr H

Dear all,

It is six years since I left Bailey's Court for the mountains of Switzerland and the first message I read on the message board is from Mollie. Mollie you probably won't remember me as I was your teacher in Reception but I certainly remember you particularly because of the song you wanted us all to sing on your very first day at school. The song was... well, I can't say here, but the lyrics were not the most appropriate for the occasion. I still laugh about it now remembering how I felt hearing you sing it! I can't believe that you are already in Y6 and soon to move onto Secondary. The best of luck to you and all your year group.

Also my very best wishes to all the staff and students at the school particularly Wendy, Martin, Julie, Mark, Catherine, Val, Lyn, Matt , Andrew, Lucy and all others who I had the pleasure to work with.

Is the cuckoo clock still working?!!!

Best wishes

David Heslop
REPLY: Lovely to hear from you Mr Heslop - I'll pass this message on to everyone on the staff, a lot of whom you'll still remember from the 'old days'. We're putting together a leaver's performance with the Year 6's at the moment and your name is still fondly remembered when we talk about reception. I think the clock is still going but we've all got so used to it that we don't really notice any more - i'll check!
Hope all is well with you and your family

Best wishes

Hey Mr H - i tried watching the airbus A380 but it wouldn't download. Do you know why?
REPLY: I'm sorry you couldn't watch the video clip. It might be because you don't have a program for watching video on your computer but you probably have Windows Media Player or Realplayer so it's unlikely to be that. It does take a long time to download, even on broadband so it could be that you just haven't waited long enough. Otherwise it must be your media player's settings. I hope you get to see it eventually! Mr H

2nd message left.. Charlotte Bagust has been through the whole school currently in year 6 and has never recieved a RED card. This needs to be praised!!!! Well done sweetie i'm very proud of you!!! Lets hope the school reconises this too.
REPLY: Thank you for your message Mrs Millward (I don't know where the first ended up!) and we are, of course, also pleased that Charlotte has behaved so well. We have no formal system for recognising such behaviour because this is the standard we expect from all the pupils and the large majority meet this expectation. Well done though Charlotte, and congratulations also to all the other well-behaved children at Bailey's Court.

As parents of a year 6 child at St Michael's, Stoke Gifford we found your Powerpoint presentation for Key Stage 2 SATs very informative. At our school we do not have meetings about such important matters, nor do we have any such information on our website.
REPLY: Thank you for your interest.

Have logged on regularly over the past few months and am still waiting for the radical changes. Is the calandar correct regarding Inset dates - is there an inset date in January? Would be nice to have more general information about the school - eg school results for last year plus pictures of school events (eg Christmas plays) to encourage children who log on. There's lots of good things going on at the school that we parents don't get to see - the website is an ideal place for us to share in the good work.
REPLY - Thank you for your interest John, and you were right, there was an omission from the calendar. Regarding the content of the website, we are limited in publishing pictures by the need for permission to be given by parents. At present, between a third and a quarter of parents have not given permission and this makes it very difficult to find suitable pictures. We will, however, continue to develop the website and try to make it an even better showcase for Bailey's Court.

I think that the website is really good. I would just like to say a big thank you to all my old teachers for putting up with me (How did you do it?) and for teaching me the things that came in use for my Year 9 sats. I would like to thank Mr Bowman for teaching us about Ronnie the Raindrop as I took GCSE Geography and we are doing rivers at the moment.

I may come to the school on Work Experience if I get turned down by the Hippodrome or Colston Hall.

Cheers again to you all
Adam Shea

P.S Tell Miss Legg that I am yet to be put on a star chart at The Ridings, so I am doing well!!! : )
