Hear, Do or See?
Everybody takes in information in different ways. Some people can just LISTEN to the information and remember it. These people are AUDITORY learners. 
Other people need to actually be DOING something to understand it properly, for example making a model of a castle to understand how castles were built. These people are KINAESTHETIC learners. 
Some people need to be able to SEE what they are learning to be able to understand it. These people are known as VISUAL learners.
Most of us are a mixture of at least two of these learning styles.
