Friends Of Bailey's Court Primary School
We are the Parents and Teachers Association for our school, a registered charity with the main objective to provide our children at school with items and facilities that are not normally provided by the local education authority. As a group of volunteer parents, we try to help improve the education and development of our children by raising funds to help purchase those little extras that make a difference to school life.
Some of the larger things we have provided are the Trim Trail, the Willow benches and Pagoda (which is used as an outside classroom in the summer), the sound and lighting system in the school hall, as well as 'wet play' equipment, books for the library and the little things like fans for each classroom. Last year we paid for the interactive whiteboards in each of our 13 classrooms. This year, the school have asked us to provide 3 outside classroom areas and a sensory garden.
We are not experts at running a charitable organisation. We do not have hours, days and weeks of spare time. We just all pull together to organise the social and fundraising events working towards the objectives set out for us in our constitution. Most of us work full or part-time and for those of us who can't attend daytime activities, it's a way of maintaining links and getting to know other parents and staff. Please feel free to come along to our meetings and you will receive a warm welcome. Any offers of help are always welcome no matter how small and we are always looking for new ideas.
As well as raising funds for those little extras, 'The Friends' aim to foster more extended relationships between staff, parents and friends of the school by arranging social events. We have organised Family Discos, Summer and Christmas Fairs, Quiz Nights and an Auction of Promises.
Please check the Forthcoming Initiatives and Events section of the mini site for details of planned fundraising activities.
